That is precisely the question I hope to answer below in this article today. Screen size, resolution, refresh rate, response time and many other factors can play a part in your decision. As we go through this list and I will line up three great choices and in the end pick an overall winner.  Keep in mind as we go that prices do fluctuate with computer peripherals slightly depending on the day and time of year… or the wind for all I know! P.S. All of these monitors will work with a PC and/or gaming console.gaming monitor under $300

#3 BenQ XL2411Z $300 Gaming Monitor

Model: BenQ XL2411Z 144Hz 1ms 24 inch Gaming Monitor

Price: $268.99

Best place to buy: Amazon.com

Coming in at number three we have the BenQ XL2411Z 24″ gaming monitor. This display comes with a TN style panel, max resolution of 1920 x 1080, 144Hz refresh rate, Black eQualizer, Motion Blur Reduction and a screaming fast 1ms response time.

Designed with eSports in mind for sure this monitor would be amazing for FPS titles, RTS and even MOBA’s for that matter. Heck BenQ monitors are even used frequently in Major League Gaming Tournaments so you know they stand up to their awesome reputation!

Although this is typically the most expensive computer monitor on my top 3 list and also at the bottom it is still a really solid choice. If BenQ is more your style then the other monitors I recommend then by all means pick it up. I don’t see any real downsides at all with the XL2411Z.

Model: AOC G2460PQU 144hz 1ms Ultimate Performance 24 Inch Professional Gaming Monitor

Many of you may not have even heard of AOC before (maybe you have) but they truly do make great computer monitors. Coming in at number 2 this G2460PQU is a 24″ IPS panel with once again a max resolution of 1920 x 1080, lightning fast 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, screen tilt and rotation as well as the works for inputs including VGA, DVI-Dual Link, HDMI, DisplayPort, and 4 USB ports.

I think for this inexpensive of a price you may not get one of the biggest name brands in the industry but you sure get a whole heap of value for your hard earned dollar. Whether you are a seriously competitive gamer or can just appreciate a good screen then the AOC G2460PGU may well be an awesome pick for you for way under $300!best gaming monitor for under $300

#1 Asus VG248QE $300 Gaming Monitor

Model: Asus VG248QE 24 inch Full HD Back lit LED Gaming Monitor

Price: $249.00

Best place to buy: Amazon.com

Here we are at the very top of the heap with our number one spot the ASUS VG248QE. A beautifully fast and smooth 24 inch TN panel monitor the VG248QE was built for speed and gaming in particular. We are looking at 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 1920×1080 max resolution, ergonomic tilt and rotation features along with all the inputs you might need. HDMI and Dual Link DVI are both present and there are even two stereo built in speakers on board. However I would still recommend a gaming headset or additional speakers for best results.

Like I said earlier this monitor is made flat out for that hyper serious gamer. It was designed for, build for, and eat/sleep/breathes gaming. If you are looking for a better multi purpose screen then the IPS panel AOC listed earlier may be the better choice for you. If you are mainly using it for gaming then the ASUS VG248QE is going to be amazing.

One side note being the size of the three picks listed on this page. 24″ monitors are just right. Especially when it comes to (but not limited to) first person shooters. It is large enough but not too big. I know, I know… too big? That isn’t possible! But hey there is a very sound argument that says if you have too large of a monitor then your eyes start to have issues because it takes you longer to look across so much space. Speaking from personal experience as well I prefer a 24″ monitor over larger or smaller sizes when gaming. That being said I will throw in one bonus 27″ pick down at the bottom of the page.

What are you getting with an under $300 Gaming Monitor?

To some a $300 gaming monitor may be very expensive. To others it may be a choice for a secondary or back up monitor. Whatever the case you want to know you are getting a decent screen and I can say with the picks chosen above you just can’t make a wrong decision. All three are quality monitors in their own right.

For this price range you can expect to get 144Hz refresh rates, 1ms response time, and 1920×1080 resolution in a 24 inch screen. TN or IPS panels are both present and the choice there comes down to if you care more about gaming performance or a possibly better overall display. At the end of the day if you are coming from a lesser quality monitor and this is an upgrade then your going to be really happy either way.

Before I wrap up this article let me throw in a 27″ pick.

Bonus AOC G2770PQU  27″ $300+ Gaming Monitor

$300 gaming monitor

Model: AOC G2770PQU Ultimate Performance 27 Inch Professional Gaming Monitor

Price: $300-$400

Best place to buy: Amazon.com

Here you have an absolutely stunning 27″ gaming monitor in the form of the AOC G2770PQU. It essentially is the same as the AOC G2460PGU but just a bit larger. So if you are a fan of it’s 24″ counter part and bigger is better in your book then this is the choice for you. To me this pick would be great for someone who likes to be competitive with FPS games but also get’s into RTS, MMORPG and even MOBAS from time to time as well. Also movies would look great on the larger IPS panel as well.

Last Thoughts

As shown in the list above my #1 pick for the best gaming monitor under $300 is the ASUS VG248QE. It is a beast of a monitor that will be fully capable of handling whatever you throw at it. This much hardware might not be necessary to the average person but when having the best is what you are interested in then I’d say ASUS has really hit the mark here with this one. Just remember if you are more of a casual gamer and like to do a lot of other things with your PC then take a hard look at that 24″ AOC G2460PQU which is also a completely solid choice.

If $300 is too rich for your blood then take a look at this $200 gaming monitor list as well as my $100 list.

Very comprehensive review on gaming monitors. In the past, I used to think that any PC monitor would do for gaming, but after using my laptop for gaming for a while, I changed my mind.

All of your suggested models are very affordable, and if I had to choose, I would go for the BenQ monitor, due to its reputation. Do these monitors come with a year warranty? Thanks!

      Hello Farhan,

The BenQ XL2411Z is an excellent choice as any of these are awesome gaming monitors. They all should have a warranty from the manufacturer BUT I have never actually needed to use one for a monitor. Usually they seem to be bulletproof. Ha! I say that and mine is going to die now lol. Anyways take care and I appreciate the comment.
