Acer G206HL Review, Good Value For a Great Computer Monitor

Today we will be reviewing a good quality computer monitor that you just cant beat for your hard earned money. Acer is a brand I have personally used for years and I’m telling you from experience they produce a great product. Now lets get down to the details…

Here is My Acer G206HL Review:

Product: Acer G206HL Bbd 20-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

Price: $119.99

Best Place to Buy:

My Personal Ranking: 85/100

The Acer G206HL is a beautiful 20-inch monitor that allows for 1600×900 resolution. This monitor is suitable for the office or gaming and the 5ms response time makes sure of that. It is a decently fast, crisp, good looking wide-screen unit that has served me well for sure. That is right! I have actually been using this monitor for a little while now and have absolutely loved it.

I use my computer primarily for gaming so I can tell first hand that the performance is there. My wife edits photos on this screen as well with Adobe Photoshop and has had only good things to say about it. Edit: I did pickup this Samsung S24D300H so look into that monitor as well.

Remember To Note What Type Of Plug-In Your Computer Uses

This may seem silly to some of you computer savvy people out there but for those of you who are not sure I will explain real quick. The common types of plugins for monitors these days are VGA, DVI and HDMI. VGA is the smaller blue plugin and DVI is white and wider. Those were the standards for years and now we have HDMI as well. If you have plugged in a Smart TV recently then you have used HDMI. It is a small black plug and is now used with computers monitors as well.acer g206hl review

Now that we have that figured out, know that the Acer g206hl is compatible with both the VGA and DVI variations same as the Acer G226HQL 21.5 Inch Monitor that I have also reviewed. This means that if you are running an older computer that only has VGA you will be able to use this monitor with ease. One thing to note is that if you happen to order a monitor that doesn’t have the type you need you can always buy adapters or adapter cables but I prefer not to if I don’t have to.

Concluding Thoughts:

Let me be completely honest. With this computer monitor you are not getting top of the line. However, you are certainly getting a great little monitor that wont be draining your bank account to acquire. And really in the end this is what most of us are looking for. The old bang for buck mantra. At just over $100 I think you will be happy with the Acer G206HL.

The Acer G206hl Monitor is not the top of the line. The price is right for a monitor that you do not want top performance with. Most people do not use a touch screen with their desktops. Most new PC’s will have a HDMI hookup, is there a small up grade to this monitor that will have a HDMI hookup?

    • John,

You are correct about the Acer G206, it is a good option perhaps for people with older machines but what if you need an HDMI hookup? Well my recommendation would be the 21.5-Inch ASUS VS228HP. >>>Click here to check this one out<<< At $124.25 it is slightly more expensive but quite a bit better monitor actually and does have HDMI (not to mention larger screen size). I hope I was some help!

  • I have used an ACER laptop, 8″ x11″, for travel for five years. Is fits the bill perfectly. It is light and has given me good service without any breakdowns. It has been reloaded and repaired once because of a virus breach and still works without any problems.

Well worth the $350 I payed for it new.

    • Hello Sherry!

I am glad to hear you have had a great experience with another Acer product! I will definitely be reviewing some laptops to keep an eye out for that as well. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know.
