The very first gaming PC I ever bought was pre-made like the Borg Q. I have to tell you that if you have never bought one before then this is a pretty good way to go for many reasons. The number one reason being that it can be a great stepping stone into the world of building your own gaming PC.
You get a great platform to build upon because every part and piece is in the machine is upgradeable. So you can go on using the machine until you feel like swapping a part out for a better one and then maybe add some RAM or upgrade your video card. This gives you a nice taste of what its like to build a PC without having to make one 100%.
As you might have been able to tell my preference is to build my own but even if this isn’t your first gaming computer it is still an awesome way to go and I won’t hold you back from it. You get a nice gaming machine that you can plug in and play immediately. Pretty cool right?
Who is the CybertronPC Borg Q TGM4213A for?
This PC is for someone who is looking for a nice entry level gaming machine or a really nice general purpose computer. If you are on a tight budget it is certainly one of the cheaper gaming computers out there and has the capabilities to play a wide variety of games at decent settings.
If you are looking for something to stomp every single game at highest settings then unfortunately you will be looking to spend a bit more doe. If you do have a bit more cash in your budget then you have a lot of options available to you and by looking around this site or by contacting me you will be pointed in the right direction.
I would say entry level and mid range gamers as well as someone just looking for a fairly good daily driver PC could benefit from this rig. Lets take a look at some of the highs and lows of the Borg Q.
What’s awesome about this PC?
Alright so I’ll start of with the hardware. 8GB of RAM is a good amount at this price point and I wouldn’t worry about needing much more. 1TB of Hard drive space is quite a lot and should last you for a very long time unless you are editing a lot of videos or downloading loads of content daily. If you are doing those things in abundance then adding some storage down the road is a very easy process.
The motherboard / CPU combo are adequate as well as the graphics card but honestly for the money
you can either find better options and if you build your own PC you can get quite a lot more value.
I find it nice that CybertronPC throws in a keyboard and mouse with the deal but honestly most of the companies do this and they are usually pretty low budget. You will find yourself wanting to upgrade those soon but that is ok because it is a pretty fun world to open up to as well.
I’d say the part of this computer that I like the best is the case which has a pretty cool look to it with an opaque side window and LED cooling fans that match the color. This is always a welcome change to the blahness of regular computers and looks pretty sick at night.
NOT so awesome?
OK. So I have seen some pretty harsh and some overly positive reviews on the CybertronPC Borg Q TGM4213A. I am going to clear up the controversy. The people saying this PC is complete trash quite simply don’t know what the are talking about. On the contrary the reviews that are 100% positive are just trying to sell you on it and are blowing smoke up your butt.
The truth is somewhere in the middle and you won’t be buying this machine because it has the absolute optimal specs or because someone told you to but because YOU want to. Because you like the package CybertronPC has curated for you. See they have gone through the work of selecting the components for this machine, installing everything and shipping it to your door ready to go.
If you like what they are selling then you will buy it plain and simple. Sometimes you can’t listen to all the noise out there. Just look at the facts and decide. The only thing I would say is that for a bit more money you could buy the iBUYPOWER AM720FX Gaming Desktop (check out my review through that link) which has a couple upgrades worth taking a look.
Or you could try going down the strait and narrow road of PC building which is not only fun but adds more value and pride of ownership when you are done with your project. That is the option I highly recommend if you have the gumption to do it. So what will it be? The red pill or the blue pill?
Quick Build Your Own PC Rant
You may not be interested in building your own computer at all. I get it. You may not have the time or maybe you are scared to mess it up. That’s OK. No one is forcing you. If you feel this way i’d probably skip this section and head down to my final verdict to see me pass judgement on this model CybertronPC.
I am going to lay this out plain and simple for you. Building a computer is not hard. It is not scary. And anyone can do it. I do it all the time and there is nothing special about me. I did not go to MiT. There is an abundance of information out there helping teach you how to do this and even showing you step by step including information on this very website. I can show you how to build an awesome gaming PC for under $500.
The first time you do it it will take a little bit of time to figure everything out. Not a ton. When you are finished you will be proud of what you created. You picked the parts. You put them together. Now you get to enjoy using it knowing all of this and will probably start to inspire friends and family members to follow suit. It will have more value and better parts then a pre-built computer I will tell you that.
I appreciate you checking out my CybertronPC Borg Q TGM4213A Gaming PC Review and can only hope that in some way I have helped you. First off I want to say that you should not buy anything you can not afford no matter what anyone says. Also don’t buy anything just because I tell you to. But this is the point of this review and if you really want to know then this is what I think. At this price point, now pay close attention, with the pre-built PC’s, the little differences in how good or bad the hardware is. It will likely not be all that noticeable to the casual gamer. Or even an avid gamer for that matter. You will notice a difference between this and my $500 gaming PC build.
HOWEVER, if you do want to buy a pre-built PC, which is great I will still love you, then my recommendation would be to check out the iBuypower that I also linked earlier in this article. It is a but more money but could be worth spending the extra amount for what you are getting.
The other good option you could go with is the Alienware Alpha Gaming Console which compares fairly close to these gaming PC’s but is pretty neat because of how unique it is. The Alpha comes at PC gaming from a bit of a different angle then the rest of the competition so be sure to at least check out my article about it if you haven’t heard of it before. Bottom line: There are slightly better options but in the end the choice is yours!
Are you going to buy the CybertronPC Borg Q? If not what computer are you thinking about purchasing? Was I able to help you in some way with my article? I’d love to share in your experience so let me know! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to drop me one anytime at the bottom of this page.
