Logitech g300s Gaming Mouse Review
Well hello there everyone how are you doing today? I am great because we are talking about computer gear and any day I am doing that is a great day! Today’s subject matter will be the Logitech g300s which is in Logitech’s lower echelon of gaming mice but can be seen as good good bang for buck item that suits both right and left handers. Hopefully I can help you decide if this mouse is the right one for you.
With a low price point this mouse could be in the running for best mouse under $30. To compare to another budget gaming mouse check out this review I recently wrote about the Redragon m601. Moving on to the meat and potatoes of this article…
Here is my Logitech g300s Gaming Mouse Review
Best Place to Buy: Amazon.com
My Personal Ranking: 85/100
My initial thoughts about this optical gaming mouse are that it is fairly visually appealing with a solid yet sleek body that is designed to look and feel good. I also know these g-mice are designed to work well with the Logitech g-keyboards so take a look at my Logitech g105 Gaming Keyboard Review for a possible awesome pairing.
I am wondering if what you would be planning on using this gaming mouse for. Whether it is for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Dota 2, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Fallout 4 or maybe you are just looking for a decent mouse to use for video/photo editing.
Whatever it is for, we are having fun, and that is all that counts! Right now I have only been able to make time for a little League of Legends but I am looking at getting into some Fallout 4. I am curious what PC games you are into at the moment and what gaming PC build you are running. Drop me a comment at the bottom of this page about it if you like :).
How fast is this bad boy?
We are looking a 250-2500(maximum) DPI for the Logitech g300s. Now this is only 500 more then the Redragon m601 that I referenced before but for the extra money I think you do get a little nicer overall quality mouse out of the Logitech. HOWEVER Logitech does make a gaming mouse that goes up to 12,000 DPI!!!!
For most all of your casual to mid range gaming experiences you will be just fine with the 2500 DPI. On top of this you get a 1-millisecond report rate that amounts to roughly 8 times faster then a standard USB mouse.
Button Layout 9x
It is interesting that this mouse has all of its 9 buttons on the top face of the body. This could be the one small downfall to this setup. I am personally used to a 6 button mouse that has the two on the side that I have grown pretty comfortable with using.
That being said it is cool there are 9 ‘G’ buttons and they are all fully programmable. Setup a slew of keybindings and macros all usable at the convenient click of your mouse and even take them strait off of your G Series Logitech keyboard.
What Is a Smart Mouse?
Well this is my pet name or term for a couple of features this mouse carries. The first being that you can actually change the LED color that shines through the mouse. That means depending on your mood or even your settings you could have a red, blue, green or whatever color mouse you feel at the time. Pretty cool.
The second caveat of this smart mouse is the ability to program and save your button layout profiles within the actual mouse itself. So you can save them, unplug the mouse, travel with it and even plug it into another computer and it should remember your settings. Now that is what I can a SMART mouse! haha
It’s My Hot Body I Do What I Want!
Logitech boasts a very durable body on this mouse capable of your heavy usage and long hours of mid night gaming. It should be able to withstand rapid clicking during your 150 APM Starcraft matches.
The other thing that helps performance here are the polytetrafluoroethylene feet on the bottom of the mouse designed to reduce friction and provide a smooth glide on the mouse pad.
When you want to configure and change your settings you will be using Logitech’s easy gaming software. All you have to do is drag and drop so do not fret even a newbie can figure this thing out. More information about this can be found at the Logitech Gaming Software page.
It is nice to know that a company will stand by their product and a warranty helps you realize this. The Logitech g300s comes with a standard 2-year limited hardware warranty. I think this is long enough. Heck for me 1 year would be enough but that is because #1 I don’t break mice very often and #2 If I did it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to have to go get an upgrade. For those who do care the 2 years is great!
First off I’d like to say thank you for taking the time to check out my Logitech g300s Gaming Mouse Review. I think I really dig this mouse for $29.99 and it’s a really good gaming mouse for under $30. If this is within your price range I would give it a shot for sure but at the end of the day my friend only you can decide. The good news is whether you get this mouse or another you are still buying gear for your PC and that doesn’t suck at all. Stay awesome!
