At first glance this mouse looks sneakily familiar to another mouse I have reviewed previously. If you are unsure of the mouse I speak of take a look at the Razer Naga.

On the surface the Redragon M901 seems to be just like the Razer Naga, but is it as good? Let us delve a little deeper and see what this mouse is all about.

MMO Mouse. What is that?

If you are reading this review then you likely know what a MMO or MMORPG is (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). You also know that a MMO specific mouse exists, yet maybe not. So what exactly makes a “MMO” mouse.

Well a gaming mouse such as the M901 is designed with performance, ergonomics and functionality in mind. The maker typically makes these babies look really sweet too so you don’t have a end product that seems to have came packaged up with a Dell.

I’d say the main determining factor of what makes a “MMO” mouse specifically is that it has a TON of buttons. I mean a ton! For instance the M901 has exactly 18 different programmable buttons.

Who should buy the Redragon M901 Perdition MMO Gaming Mouse?

This question may seem to have an obvious answer. Well that is because it does. The answer is a MMO gamer is the one who should buy this mouse.

The thing about playing Elder Scrolls: Online, World of Warcraft of any number of the MMO’s out there today (see this post for the best MMO’s) is that the higher up you level the more abilities your character gains. Usually by the end of the leveling process you have dozens of abilities, spells and items to use at your disposal.

While a lot of these can be hot keyed to your keyboard it would be nice to have some of them allocated to your mouse as well. This is where the 12 key pad on the side of the mouse comes into play.

For me back when I was playing World of Warcraft like it was my job I never actually used a mouse like this. I prefer to have extra buttons on my keyboard instead like on the Corsair K95 RBG. I put all of my extra abilities there but the thing is… I didn’t know about these mice with so many extra buttons.

I think when I get back into online gaming again, which I will be soon, that I will without a doubt use a mouse the 12 key design.

Did the engineers do a good job?

If by engineers you mean “guys who hijacked the inexpensive MMO gaming mouseRazer Naga design” then yes I think they did a good job. JUST kidding. But seriously here are some of the great features the M901 has to offer.

16,400 DPI means you will have no problems getting that mouse cursor across the screen at 1080p and higher resolutions.

You can change between 5 different memory settings each with its own LED color patterns for that sexy night time ambiance and easy distinction.

Nice solid over all build with comfortable side grip and ergonomics.

Why is the Redragon M901 so much cheaper then its Razer Naga counterpart?

The answer to this is my opinion so take it as that. When you buy a Razer product you are partly paying for the Razer name. The reason they have that expensive sort of brand name isn’t by accident. It is by design.

Razer has achieved their status not only by marketing the heck out of them selves but also by ACTUALLY making really awesome products. You don’t get to the level they got to with junk.

That being said Redragon is not a big name company in the U.S. and I think their gaming mice are drop shipped strait out of Asia. All of these things contribute to the M901 being about half price of what you’d pay for a Razer Naga. The Redragon M901 has excellent customer reviews too!

One last note or opinion of mine. Although I think you may get a slight bit a extra quality out of a “name brand” mouse I do not see it being double your money’s worth. SO take that into consideration when buying any PC peripherals. I know some still prefer brand name and if you have the money then by all means go for it!

Conclusion

Here’s the skinny… you should buy this mouse if you are a MMO gamer who is looking for an awesome inexpensive option. I wouldn’t say you are getting top of the line here but you are getting great value for your money. The M901 would certainly make a great gaming mouse. At the end of the day you and only you know what’s best but I hope I helped you make the decision. Thank you for reading my Redragon M901 Perdition Review.

Hi Anthony. Thanks for the review, this mouse is pretty cool and yes, I prefer this price point. The video really helps! Do you know the warranty on this and does it move smoothly on any surface, or do you think I would need a mouse pad for it as well?

      Hello,

I am glad I was able to help you in some way. The Redragon m901 Perdition really is great inexpensive option. I don’t know the warranty on this you would have to contact the manufacturer to be sure. The mouse will work on most smooth surfaces but I recommend using a mouse pad such as this one here.

      Thanks,

I had know ideal this existed. I can’t wait to tell all of my, World of Warcraft, buddies about this. So amazing that they put 18 programmable buttons into the M901. I also appreciated that you did the honest comparison to the Razor Naga. Right now I think I would choose M901. Why pay more just for a name. Great read and thanks for sharing.

      Hi Lee,

This mouse would be great for World of Warcraft. I kinda agree with you that there isn’t much point to spending the extra money for the Naga but if someone has the extra money then by all means. Thank you for the comment.

Hi Anthony, You did a great job reviewing this mouse and you explained the details well so that even a novice like myself could understand what this critter could do. I like how you referred to similar models out there of the same design. It looks like you really know your stuff when it comes to gaming. The video link was helpful too.
    Thanks and God bless!

      Hi Jason,

I appreciate the feedback and thank you so much for reading my review. I did my best :). As far as the mouse goes I think this really is meant for gamers who play MMO or any type of game that needs a lot of hotkeys and macros. Let me know if you have any further questions or comments.

      Thanks,

      -Anthony
